Unsure of cause: Generalized itching can be from any number of causes including severe liver or kidney problems.  However, it is much more commonly from dry/irritated skin.  Excessive scratching induces more skin irritation and often makes it worse.  If no other symptoms, try aggressive skin moisturization for a week (multiple times a day and always after bathing when skin is moist) with non-alcohol based lotion.

Pin worms: common problem with symptoms described.  Treatment is generally tolerated, but should be prescribed by a physician that can confirm.

do i have lme disease? i got a tick bite on my upper thigh about half a year ago. it spread to other parts of my legs, itches a lot, but i don't have any of the other symptoms. i misspelld: the question is do i have lyme diease?

The : The rash associated with lyme disease is called erythema migrans and it looks like a target or bulls-eye.  It usually starts at the site of the tick bite 3-30 days after the bite (average 7 days) and then can spread to other parts of the body.  The rash typically doesn't last more than a month and is rarely itchy.  An itchy rash appearing 6 months after a tick bite would not be related to lyme disease.  Other kinds of ticks can spread other organisms besides lyme such as "southern tick associated rash illness"  or rocky mountain spotted fever, so if you think you have an abnormal rash related to a previous tick bite, contact your doctor.

Hard to say: The most delicate skin on the buttocks would be the area around the anus. Hydrocortisone would need to be used carefully there. However, some causes of itching in that area would not respond to hydrocortisone. Pin worms for one, yeast or fungal infection for another, and a bacterial infection also wouldn't do well with hydrocortisone.

Try baby oil: Sometimes itching can be to a medical condition but often is a sign of dry skin. Many people do well with baby oil applied sparingly with a washcloth after you shower in the morning. You don't have to be dripping just rub and and let it absorb and it will form a good barrier keeping the skin from drying out.

Have it looked at.: There are many types and causes of skin rashes.  Several types of inflammatory conditions of the skin, allergic reactions, and sometimes bacterial, viral or fungal infections can cause rashes on the skin. Insect bites can also be the cause of a rash on the skin.  Have it evaluated by a professional and get the appropriate treatment.

Creepy crawlers : Itching all over can be caused by many things. Without  a rash it's unlikely to be bug bites or poison oak or scabies or an allergic reaction. It could be your liver or kidney are having  and it could just be from dry skin. You need an exam and most likely blood tests. If you have a rash it will most likely be easy for your provider to tell on exam.

i'm scared because whenever i go outside my body itches will i die and can you tell me how i will be able to cure it before it gets worse thank you wh?

Accepted Answer

Allergist: Going outdoors with the resultant temperature change and/ or certain activities may release histamine or other substances that causes the itching reaction. Apparently you don't break out in a rash such as hives or angioedema. Taking a nonsedating antihistamine like claritin (loratadine) before you go out may prevent this reaction. An allergist is best qualified to evaluate and advise you.

Suggest: a complete evaluation by your Primary Care Provider. There are a number of reasons for systemic (total body) itching! These include but are not limited to liver and kidney problems. Simple blood tests will answer a lot of questions.

Hives?  Other?: You could have been exposed to something that's causing hives -- or you could have urticaria (itching & rash) for other reasons like hyperbilrubinemia too.  For your best help, please see your doctor so s/he can examine your skin and treat you effectively.  Be well.
