what are the causes of isolated diastolic hypotension?

Many causes: Usually it is due to dehydration and electrolyte deficiencies in young adults. Rarely, it is due to leaky aortic valves. Sometimes it is due to certain hormone deficiencies or anemia. You should see your doctor for lab tests and to see if you have leaky valve (murmur on exam) and if further evaluation with echocardiogram is needed.

could bp meds lower an isolated diastolic hbp at a range of 95 and 100 without lowering the systolic bp too much and cause systolic hypotension? especially when i'm asleep since it already  gets down to 110/70 till 100/60 without being on meds.

Diastolic BP: There are no antihypertensive medications that only target the diastolic BP. If you require medication to treat hypertension, avoid dropping the diastolic bp under 60. In your case, I recommend starting a very low dose diuretic or an ACE inhibitor but take it in the morning after being up and about. Follow-up with your MD and continue home bp monitoring. Don't take bp meds in the afternoon.

Talk to doc: Talk to your doctor about the wide pulse pressure.Yes blood pressure meds may be affecting th systolic vs diastolic differently.However,if you feel fine with no dizziness ,no excessive fatigue or shortness of breath you are fine and I the blood pressure is good.Talk to your doctor that knows your meds and history and he/she can answer this better.

Low BP: Postural Hypotension is defined by a drop in BP on standing from sitting of 20mm or more This can cause dizziness confusion falling fainting

what makes hypotension more sympathetic? a drop in systolic pressure, a drop in diastolic pressure, or a drop in mean arterial pressure? how long is too long for prolonged hypotension? how low is too low a bp to self treat at home?

: Not sure what you mean by sympathetic. Essentially, if you are noticing that you are feeling weak, dizzy when you stand up, or lightheaded, then you should have your blood pressure evaluated regardless of whatever number it is. You should see your primary care doctor for further evaluation. Good luck.

is it normal for diastolic blood pressure to rise with anxiety? even over 100? i normally on average have low blood pressure. during activity diastoli goes up though.

See below: Yes anxiety can raise your no. That is why many patients have a mildly elevated no in doctors offices.Y wife does and jet np at he is normal.

Low BP?: No. Low bp is when your stand up you faint or get dizzy. 
One "problem"with this pressure is you will live a very long time and will not likely suffer from heart disease.Keep up the good work.

There is no real: concern with these findings. I am certain your Cardiologist is following you for your ASD closure and mitral insufficiency. Follow his/her advice. Nothing additional is required at this point in time.

Acute Injury: Hypotension or low blood pressure can cause underperfusion of the kidney leading to acute kidney injury or acute tubular necrosis. Speak with your physician about these possibilities.
