With air/oxygen or..: This nonflammable liquid/gas anesthetic is often given in mixture with room air/oxygen and/or nitrous oxide. It is often used to maintain anesthesia state once patient is induced with thiopentone or Propofol which are "smoother" and quicker agents to induce unconsciousness.

               sore throat
               dizziness
               drowsiness
               headache
               unconsciousness
Isoflurane may cause effects on the central nervous system and cardiovascular system . High concentrations in the air cause a deficiency of oxygen with the risk of unconsciousness and/or death.
