Can be: The skin is often discolored by blood that is being metabolized. If it does not resolve, see the doctor who put the stitches in.

Is it yellow: dicoloration on the skin or yellow drainage. You can have bruising but if drainage it could be puss and need immediate attention.

Yes: Any trauma to skin including sutures can cause pigmentation and scar formation. See a plastic surgeon if this bothers you.
