Oxidation: If you cut your finger cooking at first bleeding would be bright red. As the iron in blood oxidizes it becomes dark red then forms a brown scab as it oxidizes further. The same holds true for vaginal bleeding. The blood oxidizes during transit from the cervix to outside. It gets darker, then brownish black during this transit depending on how long it takes. It oxidizes. Hence, too, the odor.

Pregnancy Test: The first thing to do anytime your cycle is other than usual, check a pregnancy test.  If that's negative, there are a lot of different possible causes for a slightly erratic cycle.

You need to go to th: The er tonight or call your gyn as you need an exam , blood work to r/ o preg and to see how anemic u are and to check other hormones, and a pelvic ultrasound and then the proper treatment can be prescribed.

Menstrual pain: Is your pain only at the time of periods or at other times? Do you have pain with sex. If the pain is at times other than periods, this could be scar tissue from the c/sec. You need to see your doctor.
