i have been prescribed escitalopram for anxiety but i am also taking neurontin for rls, my doubt is can i take these both medicine together in night? doc. said it's ok but drug interaction website says otherwise? should i take escitalopram in day?

Accepted Answer

: Taking them together or at different times will not change the interaction, but different times makes more sense as you need the neurontin more at night and the escitalopram more during the day. The interactions would be a bigger concern if you were taking the neurontin in a higher dose for seizures. Respiratory depressions seems unlikely but it is easy to monitor your breathing rate.

severe constipation due to possible drug interaction.  am taking famciclovir 500mg, gabapentin 600mg and benzonatate 100 mg?

Talk to your PCP or: prescriber of medication. To help relieve constipation, remember to hydrate well, as dry stools tend to impact more, and cause constipation. Also, you can use a bulk laxative, or more vegetables (rough fiber), or stool softeners. If it's a chronic problem, your PCP needs to get involved, and you should discuss your concerns with her/him. See what's the easiest,safest alternatives.

Safe: I have seen virtually no issue in my patients who have combined these 2 meds.

Ask your pharmacist: At your age there is probably nothing wrong with mixing ibuprofen, vitamin D and Seroquel but the 24 hour pharmacy has a pharmacist available to answer these types of questions.  Your pharmacist has a database that can be searched.. Usually the pharmacist has a great deal of training and experience giving this type of advice.  it is very wise that you did ask someone about a possible interaction

Yes: Neurontin (gabapentin) is an effective medication for management of neuropathic or nerve generated pain.  Nsiads as in anti-inflammatories do not typically help with neuropathic pain, and their chronic use is associated with a number stomach, kidney, and heart problems.

No interaction: Those 2 meds are safe to take together. They both have a slight chance of causing drowsiness, hence the advice to take both at night. Good luck!

Maybe: Both can cause hepatic (liver) impairment.  So when combined, may make drug levels of each worse.  There is not a lot of info yet on drug interactions for cannabidiol oil.  So ask your psychiatrist before using it, or any other medication or supplement, including over the counter meds.  See
