About 2 days, but...: The drug will be gone from your blood and tissues within 2 days of the last dose, but if the cephalexin had an effect on your GI tract (e.g., diarrhea), it make take quite a bit longer for those symptoms to resolve.

Depends: It depends on clinical scenario . Metoprolol for instance is twice per day unless is long acting metoprolol succinate. Digoxin is once per day. The rest of drugs varies.

my question is in regards to my acne. i was prescribed cephalexin & prednisone, how long does it take for the medicine to start working? the first few days i broke out alot even in my forehead (my problem was only in my jawline/cheeks).

Acne????: You are not describing a treatment for acne. Ask the Dr what is the diagnosis. Probably you need a dermatologist. Is is unusual and often inappropriate to use both prednisone and cephalosporin at the same time.

Cellulitis course: With an appropriate antibiotic, redness and swelling due to cellulitis should start to decrease in 3-4 days, and certainly shouldn't INCREASE.  Outlining the edge of redness with a Sharpie pen will help you and your doctor monitor the response.

i was on cephalexin for a uti. the culture came back with a resistant bacteria. so they changed me to augmentin. i cant take sulfur based drugs. will the augmentin help? thanks?

: Augmentin is not sulfa based and if picked on actual sensitivity should work just fine. Antibiotic resistance remains of concern in the long run and further work up might be needed in order to discover possible causes for your recurrent UTI’s.
