Soccer headgear: Although there are protective helmets available, studies have had inconsistent results on how effective they are for preventing concussions.  Head injury can occur regardless of the age of the other team members.  What is most important is, if your daughter does have impact to her head, that she stop playing and be assessed by a doctor.  Too many kids continue playing and risk further injury.

Damage...: ...Is inflicted when the head undergoes rapid acceleration or deceleration during a header.  Weaker neck muscles would increase head movement relative to the torso in girls, leading to more header damage.

: Odd post. Why is soccer only a boys game? Why must a 14 year old want to date? In many cultures it is not considered proper until 16 or older. You write she does well in her school work and has a hobby, why is that bad? It sounds like you have firm pre-conceived notions about how a kid should act. I don't consider what you describe as deviant or in need of change. Discuss this with your doc.

Not really: To start with your weight is normal for an athlete at your height. A caloric intake at that level will put you into ketosis (fat burning) which is a slower metabolism. It struggles to create the blood sugar required to fuel your brain &amp; heart muscle. You would be at risk of blacking out &amp; injury during any physical exertion. If you try 1600c/d in balanced nutrition you could lose a few/less risk

Hard to diagnose!!: Go to a good ped orthopedist will carefully examine her and get the correct x-rays to make the correct diagnosis. She then will have to be splinted correctly.

Once fx is healed: Once the im nail has done the job of allowing your fracture to heal, it actually becomes somewhat superfluous. Surgeons do not like to remove the actual nail unless necessary, as there is a residual increased risk of reinjry/re-fracture (hollow bone). The locking screws, if prominent and bothersome, can be removed on a case by case basis based upon your surgeon's recommendation once the healed.

Go to ER: Please get examined and x-rayed immediately by Sports Medicine or ER doc especially if this is your dominant hand. If you don't have a fracture, you could still have ligamentous/tendon injury. That part of your body is structurally complicated and may need specialty care (Ortho-hand/Plastics plus Occupational Therapy). Don't sit on this.

Sometimes the cleats: And cleat pattern can cause some bruising.  Soccer cleats are notorious for a lack of support and shock absorption, so the pain can easily be plantar fasciitis.  For preteen children, the pain canbe sever's diease/calcaneal apophysitis, an injury to the growth plate.
