No: 1. Saw palmetto -- despite its widespread use, the best research studies (randomized, placebo-controlled) show no difference versus placebo 
2. Coffee is a known bladder irritant and may give you worsening lower urinary tract symptoms (frequency, urgency, etc).

See below: There is conflicting and contradictory research about the benefits of supplements for prostate symptoms. Saw palmetto most studied. Despite much anecdotal evidence suggesting benefit(s) from the supplements you mention, high quality and more reliable research seem to indicate that these supplements have little or no benefit for reducing bph-related symptoms. Very high placebo response.

Thanks for asking!: I was an investigator in an nih study adressing this question. The results were published and there was no difference between placebo and saw palmetto.

Not the same : Flomax (tamsulosin) is an fda approved medicine with known safety and efficacy. Saw palmetto has failed multiple controlled trials.  You're welcome to take it; most supplements have a 20% placebo effect.

320 mg/day (s.p.): There is conflicting and contradictory research about the benefits of saw palmetto for prostate symptoms. Some research has shown that saw palmetto might modestly improve symptoms such as going to the bathroom at night in some men. But higher quality and more reliable research seems to indicate that saw palmetto has little or no benefit for reducing these symptoms. Any benefit is modest at best.

Effects vary: Everyone is not the same, so one medication may work better for you than the rest.  There are really two main types of medications to help with the prostate - one opens the urination channel more and the others primarily help actually shrink the prostate itself (helping flow).  All men will have prostate (plumbing-type)troubles if we live long enough.

Not likely: In practice there are few if any issues with stopping Flomax (tamsulosin) cold. However, saw palmetto has been shown to be no better than placebo at relieving urinary symptoms. There is little reason to take saw palmetto given this information.
