Not the same : Flomax (tamsulosin) is an fda approved medicine with known safety and efficacy. Saw palmetto has failed multiple controlled trials. You're welcome to take it; most supplements have a 20% placebo effect.

No: No study has determined that there is a "best" time of day to take saw palmetto. In fact, studies have been inconclusive as to whether saw palmetto is any better than placebo for relief of BPH symptoms. If it helps, then by all means continue it. If you can't tell any difference in symptoms, then there is no reason to continue.
