Inflammation: Those products won't eradicate inflammation. Specific treatment with three antibiotics and bismuth for 2 weeks is usually successful in eradicating H.Pylori and ppi medications like nexium or protonix treat inflammation. In my opinion probiotics aren't helpful in treating gastritis.

Yes, esp. if...: Most cases of gastritis are caused by H. pylori. This is usually treated with antibiotics (though herbs like Mastic Gum can work as well). Probiotics are important for both helping to eliminate H. Pylori &amp; for re-establishing healthy flora. Time for a change...: Zantac (ranitidine) in doses less than 100mg (otc dosing is 75mg) effectively inhibits basal & nighttime acid output by the stomach. However, food-stimulated acid production & tobacco/ nsaid/ alcohol injury may need bigger "guns." prescription-strength doses of zantac (ranitidine) are 150-300mg twice daily. Stop tobacco, nsaids, & drinking alcohol, & ask your doctor if time to switch medication or to get further testing.

Loss of appetite: Based on the duration and severity of the problem and any weight loss decides the need for further work up. If there is weight loss, you have to have exam and may be some tests blood tests, ultrasound and ct scan

stop smoking, alcohol, eat small meals,  wait at least 2 hours after you eat before laying down. 
The symptoms of gastritis can be from other conditions. Stop the peppermint See a doctor.

Pro mean with: and bio means life.  Probiotics help the GI system digest food.  Anti means against. So, if one takes excessive antibiotics (which are sometimes needed) they can kill off the good bacteria in our GI systems and we can have digestive problems.  Look for a wide variety of strains of probiotics you choose.  This is more important that the number  or potency of the product.  Peace and good health.
