Not safe: when you pluck nose hairs, the risk of infection of the follicle becomes more. If an infection does occur, due to the proximity to the sinuses and the cranial space, if the infection spreads to the cranial area, it can become extremely serious.

No-: Nose hairs should have nothing to do with your ECT treatment. However, the fact that you have worries anc concerns about this should be discussed with your therapist.

Sounds right: Did you take the antibiotic?  Sounds like that nasal hair plucking is giving you an infection. Take your antibiotic and stop plucking the nasal hairs

i have a small, painless, pea size, semi hard bump on the inside of my nose cartilage. i tend to foolishly pluck nose hairs that get too long. i presume this is an ingrown hair from plucking? concerns? serious? recommendations on treating? thanks?

: You may watch and wait. If the lesion subsides in a couple of weeks, it may have been folliculitis. If it persists, gets bigger, ulceates, bleeds or other lumps appear, see a doctor.

I am not scared.: Never heard of this being dangerous and don't precisely understand why someone might say this except regarding concerns of infection.  If infection does occur it must be very rare.

Accepted Answer

Possibly: If your nose hairs are too long, they may poke into the skin of your nose. Try having your nose hairs trimmed and see if the itchy sensation resolves. Another consideration is that you may have a low grade skin infection or folliculitis.

i plucked a bunch of nose hairs and just saw online that this can lead to an abscess in the brain or meningitis, how common is this?  a bit concerned.

Accepted Answer

Not common: The circulation in nose is shared with brain and due to close proximity there is concern.  Rare to get infection unless there is a serious bacterial load from sinus infection or your immune system is weak already like being on steroids or having chemotherapy.  Watch for serious headache and stiff neck but you most likely want will not have a problem.

How long???: When did he pull out hairs? Yesterday? A month ago? If only a few days, give it time to heal. If severe pain, swelling, tenderness, see Dr.

Triangle of death: Amazing you know about it. It is rare. If your nose wasn't infected to begin with and you only pulled hair it is unlikely. If you keep irritating the area by touching all the time, however, it could get infected. So, don't!
