Not likely: Terbinafine does not cause fluid retention.
Weight gain is often due to excess of calories in a persona who is sedentary. You need to move around/walk more, do it every opportunity you get. Also cut down on sweet items in your dies....no sugary drinks or juices or deserts. No fast foods. Then you will lose weight!

May be increased : muscle mass contributing to weight gain, If you notice swelling of legs or ankles, this is possibly from fluid restention; however, unlikely at your age. Restrict salt  to lrss than 2 grams ( 2000 mg) /day and avoid carb loading/supplememnts.

Everyone's different: Remember there is no overwhelming evidence suggesting that one particular diet is superior to all others.  People respond differently to different micronutrients(fats, carbs,  proteins).  You may need to experiment with your body in this regards. be mindful of your portions/caloric intake. Make sure you get ample veggies, fruits and non processed food.  You need to stay active too.

Many things: The list is virtually endless and may be different for each person.  In general however, foods high in sodium can lead to water retention as can high carbohydrate meals due to the amount of water needed to store carbohydrates as glycogen.  Hormonal and even environmental changes can also affect total body water.  Lastly many medications can lead to fluid retention.

does biaxin (clarithromycin) cause water retention or weight gain?

No: Really unlikely. Antibiotics work because they hit the germ and not us. Biaxin (clarithromycin) doesn't interact with the kidneys or with fluid.

Rare (really really rare) reactions like allergies might possibly cause unexpected effects like liver failure. but Biaxin (clarithromycin) doesn't commonly do this AND, there'd be a lot of other symptoms (brown urine, abdominal swelling and pain, being really sick, etc.).

im on predisone and took my first pill today. its 20 mg. i noticed i gained two pounds after taking it. does it cause water retention or is it something else? im new to it and didnt know if could contribute to weight gain. im on it for a week?

WATER RETENTION: Yes there can be water retention with prednisone as  well as increase in appetite with steroids. I am not sure what happens after just 1 dose but 20mg is a significant dose. Can discuss concern with the doctor that prescribed.

Appetite stimulation: The weight gain from clomipramine (anafranil) is due to appetite stimulation. Some people will have some water weight (edema), but that is not the primary reason for the weight gain.

Phenothiazine : This medication is a phenothiazine class antihistaminic antipsychotic  medication. Medications of this type have historically been known to cause weight gain by appetite stimulation. Finding data on side effects of this medication proved quite difficult online. There was some information about metabolic syndrome cases but i did not see anything that had to do with edema. Without a formal pdr like print out however i cannot say for sure that at least some of the weight gain does not come from edema.

Yaz (drospirenone and ethinyl estradiol): Yaz (drospirenone and ethinyl estradiol) or Yasmin should not result in fluid retention since the Progesterone in it has diuretic properties. However, these may have slightly higher risk for DVT (blood clots) than other BCP. Can also try any pill with 20 ugm of estrogen as opposed to one with 30-35 ugm.
