It depends: There are as many answers to this question as there are antibiotics. Many are not particularly harmful if you get a slightly higher-than-recommended amount. However, they can cause serious problems. They can affect your liver or kidneys, or interfere with other medicines, for example. Careful; antibiotic=: against-life-thing; ie. poison judged OK for humans. Yet only a few groups/types (many subdivisions of these) exist, nothing (including combinations) kills everything. Response fades as susceptible cells are replaced by resistant cells within days. Probiotics=pills with millions of cells, many killed by antibiotics, though may help shift populations present. Complex, no clinical trials; science.

See below : I'm not sure what type of penicillin you are taking. Because most penicillins have very short half lives they are usually taken 4 times a day or every 6 hours if you have normal kidney function.

: Few if any antibiotics are likely to be fatal in any dose. However, of course this person needs immediate medical care, as well as loving attention (which might include getting her into appropriate care) before she tries some other kind of self harm. Good luck to both of you.

Doxycycline : At some point in your treatment you could come off this or if not working or helping you, you could stop it. The main problems would be side affects or allergy to the medication.  Stomach problems or rashes would be the main problems.

Hard to say: Probably best to use extra protection with intercourse until your period begins, &amp; when your new pill cycle begins, you will likely be protected since you will have been off the cefuroxime antibiotic for a while by then.

Sinus: I do not see why not as the drugs act differently in your system. If you are taking the antibiotic for a sinus infection and the sinus tabs to be more comfortable until the antibiotic begins to work (generally 48 hours) you will be fine. Check with your md if you have unusual symptoms or further questions.
