It depends: In most cases, a recently vaccinated person poses no risk to an unvaccinated person. However, in the case of live-virus vaccinations, the vaccinated person can shed live virus particles and infect unvaccinated people. The best course of action is to simply make sure that your child is caught up on their vaccinations.

No vaccines: If an child does not get vaccines and gets sick then he could give it to other children (even vaccinated ones).  No vaccine is 100% effective, some aren't even 90% effective so there is a chance that the vaccine didn't work on your child and if he's exposed to someone with the illness he could get sick. Also some vaccines wear off over time so if it has worn off your child could get sick.

Partial protection: Some vaccines give partial protection to some kids and these will be susceptable to infection by wild disease carriers. Some of the measles this year in houston were traced to an imported case infecting kids with no, one or two doses. The chickenpox vaccine has essentially ended CP deaths (were 50/yr) but we still see breakthru cases, all of which can develop secondary illnesses like invasive strep.

Vaccines seldom 100%: The protection provided by vaccines can approach 100% in some cases but not all. Infected kids spread their diseases to infants that are too young to be vaccinated, those that have not completed a full vaccine series or those whose immune system fails to have a full benefit from the vaccine.A measles outbreak in houston was traced to air travelers entering from abroad, 1/3 vaccinated, 2/3 not.

No, but...: According to cdc, vaccinated children cannot transmit the vaccine virus, or at least it has never been documented. However, when the vaccinated child develops a rash following vaccination, that's in essence a mild case of chicken pox, and that kid is contagious until the blisters form scabs. But as far as we know, there is no such thing as a "carrier state" for vaccinated kids (or adults).

Very rarely.: You can only be contagious with chicken pox if you actually have the infection.  People vaccinated against chicken pox have about a 90% chance of being immune.  If someone was vaccinated and didn't become immune, that person could get infected with the chicken pox and then pass it on.

Not the only symptom: Bacterial meningitis causes a severe headache and neck ache- not just general malaise and nausea....That sounds more like flu.
Viral meningitis can be passed form person to person and bacterial forms that we do not have vaccines for so yes to second part of question-
if you have concerns about meningitis that person needs to be seen asap.

i heard that the mmr vaccine is a live shedding virus. is this true and if so should i keep my unvaccinated baby away from those recently vaccinated?

Mmr vaccine : MMR vaccine is live but there is no need to isolate your baby unless your child has an immune problem.  The virus in it is not harmful.

can a person still be exposed to, catch and spread covid to unvaccinated people if they've been vaccinated and have received both shots?

Accepted Answer

: This seems to be an area of controversy, and appears to be another area of confusion which should be quite easy to ascertain.  Immunologically, since the vaccines appear to work in up to 95%, that would imply any infective organism to be either destroyed or muted.  Therefore, a true carrier state could not be infective to others.  However, not proven yet, sorry to disclose.

my unvaccinated kitten had just lightly scratched me but it is from a friends cat who was vaccinated there was notreally any broken skin is it serious?

Need more info: There is a saying that "if anything can go wrong it will". Please make an appointment with your family physician to look at the area affected to be sure you are OK. There are many many germs on the cat's nails.
