every time i wash my face i lose a couple of beard hairs. the same is for my head?

Accepted Answer

Normal: We all shed hairs.  Beard, scalp, chest, pubic, legs and arms, everywhere that we have hair.  This is a normal process unless you have discrete patches of lost hair.  From what you describe, you are just having the normal shedding that all humans (and animals) have.  Quit splitting hairs!  it's normal!

i'm am starting to notice small strands of my hair that are losing pigment, a few might be silver/gray but most just look colorless. i'm early-mid 20s?

Completely: NORMAL  for small strands to turn grey in the twenties and there are cases of premature greyness..

Speak with a Dermatologist if your are worried OR use it as a FASHION STATEMENT!

Alopecia: Your hair loss is concerning. Two of the top candidates would be a fungal infection of the hairs of the beard, and a thyroid problem could cause this.

will the epilight work on hairs with no pigment? i can't stand the peach fuzz on my face.  will epilight be able to remove these?

No: Lasers and light sources work best on pigmented hairs.

i'm not sure if i have nevus depigmentosus because there is dark hair growing on the areas of my face that don't have pigment. so can i repigmentate?

I doubt it: You can see your dermatologist to clarify but I would be surprised that the hair  would repigment.

Accepted Answer

Not usually: BUT different people call different things lasers.  If you have a darker skin type then IPL for example (which some call laser but is not) can cause post inflammatory hyperpigmentation.  Assuming you had the laser hair removal done professionally, ask the person who did it what they used and what can be done now about the pigmentation.  Another type of laser (1064 NdYag) perhaps. Good luck!

: Beard hair loss is not usually related to alopecia of the scalp. You  are doing the right thing by seeing a dermatologist

Not yet: At this point you can't stop white hairs from appearing. It is a part of aging. However it can also be due to stress, so if you try to lessen the stress, that can help. There was a cream out there that stops grey/white hair but it isnt on the market yet. Check T level: You don't say how old you are; if you are in your teens, your beard may simply not have emerged as yet. If you are older, have your doctor check your testosterone level to be sure it is normal. If it is, you are probably just one of those people with sparse facial hair, and there's nothing to be done about it. At least not yet.

Hard to say: i read the ingredient list, does not appear to cause harm to the skin in any way, but since it is only recommended for your scalp my conservative answer would be: don't do that. Contains: Alcohol, H2O, rosemary extract, capsicum frutescens, glycerine, menthol, sophora radix (kujin extract), allantoin, panthenol, pyridoxine HCl, isodonis japonicus (enmeiso extract), glycyrrhetinic acid, hinoki, etc
