Not exactly: I know of no studies showing the benefit of marijuana on avascular necrosis and can't really imagine how it would reverse tbe disease state.  Some might argue a role as a pain agent but this would have to be considered in the light of any other meds that have been used.

If avascular necrosis involves the bones of a joint, it often leads to destruction of the bone, the bone will there but deformed.

See details: There is no natural cure. In avn the blood supply to the head of the hip has been compromised to the extent that the bone has died and collapsed. If it reaches that stage replacing the femoral head is the only option. Early stage avn can be treated by non-weight bearing or core depression. The replacement should last 20+ years depending on your weight, activities, etc.

Yes, But...: Relapses due to multiple sclerosis need treatment, and most commonly we use high dose steroids or acth to reverse the process. In an occasional patient the steroids can cause adverse event, avascular necrosis of hip, shoulder, or knee.  This can damage the joint profoundly, with need for joint replacement.  Ms doesn't cause on its own.

No: A torn rotator cuff primarily involves the rotator cuff tendons whereas avascular necrosis involves the humeral head (top of the long bone of the upper arm).

Each disease has certain features on mri.

Yes and no: Avclascular necrosis , ischemic bone necrosis,  (avn) is a disease where there is cellular death (necrosis) of bone components due to interruption of the blood supply. When you have injection or used steroid rarely you will have side effect to the cortisone used what we call avn of the bone sometimes happen after few month to year from using the medications or injection. Options limited: Depends on the location and manner of fracture. Shoulder & hips at highest risk for avascular bone necrosis, so only real prevention is not getting injured to begin with. In some special cases you can take steps to reduce risk. Deep sea divers (due to the bends) and patients on high dose long term corticosteroids are more at risk. Talk to your dr.

will avascular necrosis continue to progress after you stopped steroids ?

The AVN will not go: Away but being off steroids potentially will slow the progression down. Unfortunately, once avascular necrosis occurs the only full treatment is replacemnet of the joint affected. Decompression of the hip can help with pain an dput off replacement, but that is something you and your orthopedist need to discuss. Agian the only cure foe avn is joint replacemnt.
