Will avascular necrosis continue to progress after you stopped steroids ?

The AVN will not go: Away but being off steroids potentially will slow the progression down. Unfortunately, once avascular necrosis occurs the only full treatment is replacemnet of the joint affected. Decompression of the hip can help with pain an dput off replacement, but that is something you and your orthopedist need to discuss. Agian the only cure foe avn is joint replacemnt.

Yes it can.: Avascular necrosis is caused by a lack of blood suppy to a bone (avanscular means no blood vessels). Stopping steroids will not reverse the lack of blood supply.
