Support group: I am sure there is a foundation somewhere near your related to lupus. You should consider joining a support group which will likely provide you more personal insights and reading recommendation. Chronic illness is often a major issue and you will need all the help you can get.

is there any connection between systemic lupus and raynaud's phenomenon?  do people with lupus sometimes have raynaud's as part of the illness?

Not always: Raynaud's phenomenon is an exaggerated vascular response to cold temperature or stress. It is not specific to any disease & can be associated with a long list of conditions. It can also occur without any underlying disease (so-called primary raynaud's). Only a small percentage of patients with lupus tend to have raynaud's phenomenon.

can a major illness trigger lupus to develop in a person?

Accepted Answer

Short answer is yes: It is a very complication question, but it has been proven that one of the environmental factors that link with lupus is infection whether is virus or bacteria. More commonly is with strong family history with lupus or other autoimmune conditions and put your genetic pool in a more vulnerable position.

currently have strep f (have had b & c), have hashimotos, seizures, possible lupus. why do i keep getting these? what could be an underlying illness?

Primary: immune deficiency is a possibility.  In the presence of multiple autoimmune disorders it is still  possible to have  an immune deficit. See your doctor for confirmatory testing.

is sjgren's syndrome and lupus and sponge kidneys and intersistal cystitis something i was born with or can something else cause these illnesses ?

2 ; 2: Sponge kidneys ; sjøgren's were present from birth although diagnosis of each may have been made when you reached adulthood. Lupus ; interstitial cystitis were certainly not present from birth.

i hate my life and how i have to be afraid of my medical illness's at 27. lupus. p.o.t.s. now maybe lung disease! yes u can see im anxious w/ my questions but i just want to be ok for once. just ok.

Chronic illness is : Exhausting to deal with. Have you consider therapy? If might be a kind and good thing to do for yourself. We all need ways to refill our well when our emotional, physical & spiritual reserves have dwindled. Be well.

normal c4, low c3? do i have lupus? dont have other lupus symptoms. rheumatologist diagnosed me with raynauds before c tests. but no feedback or call after receiving the blood results. i received a copy. are there other autoimmune illnesses?

Need more info: One or two issues are not sufficient for a diagnosis of lupus. Visit this site for diagnostic criteria for lupus and then discuss the matter with your doctor. There are many other autoimmune disorders but there is not sufficient space here to explain.

i have auto immune disease sjgren's syndrome and lupus. i also have hpv . will my hpv get worse being i have auto immune illness ? afraid of cancer.

HPV specialist: There may be more resistance to treatment of HPV with lupus and sjogrens syndrome. Since there are quite a few different treatments depending on location it is important to be under the care of a qualified specialist.Proper follow-up can prevent cancer.

i have various autoimmune illnesses including lupus, mctd, sfn and a positive titer that is a nuclear speckled pattern. however, im getting a low titer pattern of 1:40 with a cytoplasmic pattern via ifa staining. could this be vasculitis?

: Vasculitis is not a named disease but a symptom of other problems. Presumably you're in the care of a rheumatologist or other expert in autoimmune diseases. Keep working with her. Good luck.
