It is not uncommon to have a lingering cough, I've seen it last as long as 6 to 8 weeks.  However, if you have fever, trouble breathing, colored/increased/thickened sputum with the cough, you should see a doctor to rule out pneumonia.

Lightheaded s/p cold: The cough can be from post nasal drip or you may have supra-infection by  bacteria. A bug called mycoplasma can cause dizziness/cough. It is treated by Zithromax.For pot nasal drip try Zyrtec.
