Age is not an issue: Stainless steel is used commonly and safely for surgical implants. Titanium is relatively newer on the market in the manufacture of surgical implants and has properties that are more like bone than stainless. It is important for any surgery to notify your surgeon of any and all allergies to medications food and in particular when the case may involve an implant, metal allergies.

i was recently told that my surgeon put in a stainless steel plate in my arm & not titanium. i have an allergy to nickel. will this cause me problems?

Ni Allergy: Unless the allergy is severe, the Ni leaching out of a plate should be insignificant.  Since there is rarely enough friction to aggravate any elution when placed on a long bone or a flat one your are probably safe.  Swelling and redness around the area would prove me wrong.

Yes: A stainless steel crown is a way to protect a tooth and preserve a space.  Baby teeth don't hold large fillings well, so think of a stainless steel crown as a large filling.  When baby teeth are lost too early, then the permenant teeth dont have a natural guide into their proper position.  The stainless steel crown can save thousands of dollars on orthodontics later.

Yes: Regular crowns are never put on baby teeth.  If the child has decay severe enough for a crown, then the stainless steel crown should be done to hold on to those teeth as long as possible, otherwise the teeth would abscess and be lost.  This could lead to crowding of the adult teeth.

Absolutely: Orthodontists have been using stainless steel wires for more than 70 years without incident.  There are many types of stainless steel wires with different metallurgical formulas and properties.  They are the "railroad tracks" that your teeth (railroad cars) slide along.

Plastic: It is likely not harmful to eat the plastic but there is a possibility it could get stuck in your throat and have to be removed so I would start that dish again. All the best.

sterilized babys bottles in stainless steel pot with aluminum foil because i lost the lid. is this safe, the bottom of the foil turns a funky color ? i searched online that its not and could leach but it wasnt a health accredited website?

: Sterilized ??? The practice was abandoned decades ago in the USA when simple cleaning with soap &amp; water like other dishware/utensils was found adequate. A bottle brush to handle any retained milk is the only extra effort needed. If you are concerned about the rinse I would just re=do it with soapy water at regular dish cleaning temperature.

Air-tight?: The most important thing about storing nuts is that the container be air-tight, and in a cool, dry location. This prevents the oils in the nuts from becoming rancid. Air tight stainless steel containers made of good quality stainless steel (not contaminated with other metals) can serve this purpose well. Low quality metal containers can leach toxins into the nuts.

Baby teeth: These crowns are safe and are commonly used when there is significant decay in baby teeth.  The best thing that you can do for your son's oral health is to concentrate on improving his diet.  Reduce sugary drinks and foods.  Brush his teeth at least twice a day.  Continue regular dental care.
