i need to have an umbilical hernia repair. nobody seems to be able to answer whether i should fix it now or wait until i am finished having children.

Depends on severity: Hernias require repair to prevent complications or worsening. If  a lump is getting stuck in the hernia and can't be pushed back into the abdomen (reduced) it may contain intestine which could be dangerous. But if it is just an interesting finding on exam and is a little sore, it should probably wait until after  last pregnancy since stretching the repaired area may make the repair fail again.

i need some workouts that are safe for diastasis recti with an umbilical hernia. havent had it repaired and dont want to make it worse.

Abdominal hernia?: With either an umbilical hernia or diastasis recti (separation of the abdominal muscles with resultant essential hernia) any form of workouts with the possible exception of brisk walking can aggravate the hernias in both locations and make repair more difficult.

lump in bellybutton. pain when pressure is applied. umbilical hernia? i have doc appt. in less than 24 hours. safe for me to wait until then??

Probably: Some pain with a hernia is normal. If you are having fevers, nausea/vomiting, or the skin over the hernia is red/purple and you are having a LOT of abdominal pain then you need to go the ER. Otherwise it's okay to wait. Keep an eye on it, and try to push it back in if it pops out. Wearing a back brace that gives abdominal support might help as well. Good luck!

i had an umbilical hernia repair with mesh done 4 years ago is it safe for me to have a baby and will the mesh cause any tearing of my tummy.

May be: it is hard to determined what will happen most likely the hernia might come back depend on the size of the screen they use and if you had your surgery open or laparoscopic  you have good chance you will be ok but again is unpredictable good luck

Go ahead: Once your surgical scars are healed, it should be fine to get a belly button piercing.  The piercing doesn't affect what's going on inside at all.

Hernia repair : The least invasive approach is a small incision at the umbilicus, using sutures, mesh, or both to repair the defect. There are "ventral patches" specifically designed for this type of repair that are highly effective. Better than Pre-Op: In fairness, I have never had an umbilical hernia repaired (u need a different website for that), but I have fixed hundreds.  The cosmetic results depend on the size of the hernia, the size of the patient, and the method of repair.  If you see a hernia surgeon, they can draw what your scar will look like and describe the cosmetic changes.  Either way, it will look better than before surgery :-).

what is the best way to treat a groinal hernia? my husband has this right now. he did have an umbilical hernia that was repaired.
