Constant infections: You may have a chronic condition e.g. Allergies that make you more suseptible to infections like sinusitis and bronchitis.  You may have asthma.  See an allergist.  Take 5000 iu vitamin d3 daily until your blood test is optimal about 60-70. For secondary infection may need antibiotic.

: The danger from inadequate treatment of a strep infection is hundreds of times higher than any potential problem because you had penicillin 8 months previously. Take the treatment as advised.

Rx strep/bronchitis: Whenever he returns to his usual health. This illness may be caught by the other players. If your son has asthma,   using an Albuterol inhaler 5 to ten minutes before playing may help control symptoms. 
For now, rest and monitoring his temperature, and hydration is suggested.

Mgt: Please stay well hydrated, rest and monitor your temperature. You should feel better in a few days, and if there is no fever nor any breathing difficulty, maybe you can return to work. I assume you are on antibiotic treatment now. 
If your cough is severe and not improving or associated with breathing difficulty, then an ED visit is indicated. They will most likely order a chest radiograph.
