Erosion of implant: If you're penile implant is breaking (or eroding) through the skin, this is an emergency situation.  You need to see your urologist (or go to the emergency room) immediately.  The implant will need to be removed surgically and you will need antibiotics. The decision for a new penile implant is managed on an individual basis.

Safe: Penile implants are generally safe with a low complication rate. The most common complications include infection, urethral injury, or bleeding. It can cause chronic pain but is much less common. For the right patient, it is a very viable option and with low morbidity.

Somewhat natural: Penile implants are performed in order to have an adequate erection for sexual intercourse. There are 2 main types of implants, inflatable prostheses and malleable (rigid). The more natural implant is the inflatable prosthesis but it is definitely not undetectable. It is a plastic implant and can be felt within the penis during the flaccid state. These implants are not meant to be undetectable.

Mostly satisfied: Having a penile implant is a very personal decision. In the right patient who is motivated to having an implant, the procedure is very helpful and very effective for sexual intercourse. Very few patients regret having the procedure performed.

Penile implants: Once you have an inflatable implant installed, i'm not sure of a way to make the erection bigger, since the inflatable parts have a maximum volume capacity.  I'd defer to my colleagues in urology for more insight, or if there are newer models that can increase the penile implant length without another surgery.

Implant = Prosthesis: The inflatable penile prosthesis (ipp) is an excellent solution for men with severe e.D. That does not respond to other measures.  The implant surgery takes about an hour, is usually done as an outpatient, and has a pretty brief recovery.  All surgery has risks, so do some research and find someone with some experience placing implants.

Diminished Size: By the nature of how an implant works, there is expected to be a decrease in length, though not substantial.  These implants are only used for creating a usable erection for patients unable to do so with medications or injections.  Once you have an implant, you will forever require an implant.  No more natural erections will occur.
