Methadone +oxycodone: Call your prescribers. Ask their advice. Your apprehensions are very appropriate.  You likely can take oxycodone, but timing around methadone is relevant.

Addiction: Craving (mouth watering as you described) is indicative of addiction. Feeling shaky is a sign of withdrawal. Based on the limited information you've developed psychological & physical dependance. There are many non-opiate options for pain treatment. Think of your problem as a rapidly growing & lethal cancer which can be cured if addressed asap. Seek counseling urgently & while your ahead.

Better: do before it is too late. Overdose on Opiod dependency is easy as tolerance develops. Suggest an impatient rehabilitation or Subaxone MD or both ASAP

Dentist can recheck: A dentist or oral surgeon can re-evaluate a tooth if there is so much pain. The dentist can see if there is an infection or some other reason for so much pain. Meanwhile, the Percocet is a combination of acetaminophen (like Tylenol) plus a narcotic, and should help. Adding more over-the-counter medicine like Motrin can add pain relief, but one should first check with the dentist about all of this.

Questionable: Percocet is tylenol (acetaminophen) + oxycodone.  While the tylenol (acetaminophen) is okay, i don't like putting pregnant women on narcotics of this strength.  Generally i look at Codeine (tylenol (acetaminophen) (acetaminophen) 3) and occasionally Norco (tylenol (acetaminophen) (acetaminophen) & hydrocodone).  Some of this depends on how many teeth you are having removed since pain control is important both for you and your baby.  Speak with you dentist & ob/gyn regarding your case.

my mother is takin percocet and toradol injections for severe migraines until she gets these botox injections in her head. she is nauseated and not eating or drinking. what do i do ?

Botox takes 5 days: In the meantime there may be other medications such as Imitrex or Maxalt or zomig (zolmitriptan) that may offer more immediate relief. While Percocet may provide pain relief, it generally does not treat the cause of migraines and is habit forming.

: Not possible. Percocet is a controlled substance that due to scrutiny and legal limitation can only be prescribed in very limited circumstances, under no circumstance on this platform. Get established with a doc, long term side effects of opiates like percocet are devastating.

Nausea : Nausea after surgery is an occasional occurrence and can result from a combination of factors.  Certain medications used during the sedation procedure can cause nausea, particularly if the patient is prone to motion sickness.  Secondly,  if small amounts of blood are swallowed after surgery, it can combine with the acid in the empty stomach to cause nausea.  And finally, taking percocet, particularly on an empty stomach, will cause nausea a large number of patients.  The brown/black bilous material is blood that has been coagulated by the stomach acid.

When this situation occurs, I have my patient's temporarily stop all medications and have them begin taking small amounts of room temperature sports drinks.  I then have them slowly work to room temperature bland foods.  When they tolerate these items it is safe to start the medications again.  This condition usually passes quickly, but if it does not contact her surgeon.  Do not let more than 4 hours pass as this may lead to serious dehydration.  She may be prescribed an anti-emetic, my favorite being Phenergan (promethazine) suppositories.

Meds: Take meds as prescribed by your docs. Inform all prescribers of the meds you are taking. While a high risk combo, opiate and benzos, they are used at times in specific circumstances.

i just got my wisdom teeth out and was prescribed percocet but i took 2 ibuprofen instead, can i still take the percocet if i am still in pain?

Accepted Answer

Should be ok : they are different medications.  The ibuprofen can increase bleeding - which is probably why you were given Percocet instead. Percocet contains acetaminophen (Tylenol) and codeine. I would follow the instructions on the Percocet. Good luck!
