Outbreaks: Herpes virus lives in the nerve cells and will break out periodically. Usually the frequency of outbreaks is more frequent if an acute infection, and less frequently for chronic infections. Not uncommon but see your doctor if you are concerned or if any changes to the outbreak.

It can happen: Braces are sharp and the orthodontist does have to stretch your lip a bit to work in your mouth.  Try using lots of lip ointment before your appointment and orthodontic wax afterwards.  Discuss the issue with your orthodontist.

Unusual: Swollen lips or angioedema is rarely caused by seasonal allergy but can occur. There are many other causes and a thorough evaluation is needed.

hi dr. is it normal to get a fever blister on your cheek? i always get them on my lips but i have something on my cheek that looks and feels like a fever blister. i have never had this before? should i be worried?

Watch and wait: You could get a fever blister on the cheek or it could be infection of a hair follicle. If the lesion doubles in size, ulcerates, bleeds or other blisters appear, it would be prudent to see a doctor.

See a doctor : Proper examination and testing may be required.  Topical steroids might work but it is safest to see your pcp or a dermatologist or an allergist and have them review the options with you

Cold sore: Yes, it is.  A cold sore is an open wound and as such the surrounding tissues will swell in an effort to help it heal.

Possibly: Why is half your lip flesh tone?  Have you seen a dr. For a diagnosis? Do you have vitiligo?  If you have not done so, a diagnosis is imperative.
After that is done...Yes, lips can be tattooed and the "light" portion could be filled in to appear pink. Do your homework in finding a tattoo artist in your area that is reputable and has won awards for their quality work.  Good luck.

See a physician /ER : You may be undergoing a moderate to severe allergic reaction to something.  If you have shortness of breath (breathing difficulty). You must immediately go to the hospital for evaluation and treatment.  Otherwise contact your physician and see if you need to be on any medication.
