i am a 19 year old female. i am on birth control and i have a nearly sugar free and flour/gluten free diet. i keep having yeast infections that do not go away after taking diflucan/ steroid creams. what can i do to stop recurrent yeast infections?

: Diabetes (with high blood sugar) can trigger yeast infections, but most vaginal yeast infections have nothing to do with diet, sugar intake, etc. Probably no need for such a diet. Once weekly fluconazole (Diflucan) might be an option. Or you might have a yeast resistant to the "azole" drugs like fluconazole. In that case, ask doctor about other Rx, e.g. micafungin, caspofungin, or flucytosine.

can eating wheat or glutin cause an itchy reaction? i have an chronic ear itch that seems to go away when i cut out flour from my diet. coincidence?

No: Allergic reactions can manifest in itching in different places. If you have noticed a correlation and decrease with no gluten intake then continue to eliminate it from your diet. For confirmation of allergy have lab tests done at your primary physician.

Need more info: It is not feasible to provide a meaningful opinion without additional history, physical examination and may be some tests. Unintended weight loss is always a cause for concern and it would be prudent to see a GI doctor.

No limit needed: Unless you have celiac disease or have some reaction to gluten and need to limit it, there really is no need for a restriction of gluten at all. It can be part of a healthy varied diet. Hope that helps.

Not necessarily : Of course by avoiding gluten many bad foods are excluded but being gluten free does not make it neccessarily more healthy then another product.
