Not really...: The bypass was supposed to decrease your calorie consumption, but alcohol bypasses the bypass and gives you just as many calories as it did before, defeating the purpose of the operation. A drink or two won't make much difference, but any more are a significant source of fat.

The : The sudden weight gain, swelling and low back pain seem to point to a kidney issue. It is possible that your kidney function has decreased, which is causing your body to not filter fluid effectively and instead retain large amounts fluids (leading to swelling in the body). However, the swelling can also be attributed to congestive heart failure, where your heart is not functioning properly, so blood and fluid gets backed up into the body system. Seeing a doctor is crucial. If the pain becomes too severe to tolerate, it is prudent to go to the emergency department.

I wasn't able to see the remainder of your question due to the character limit, but small bowel obstructions are usually diagnosed with clinical findings in combination with radiographic findings. See below: Constipation is also seen in patients following bariatric surgery. This occurs more commonly after LAGB and RNYGBP and is less likely with DS, although it may occur in rare cases with DS. It is usually due to insufficient intake of water, and may be corrected by diligent attention to water ingestion and the addition of fiber products like Metamucil or Fibercon.

Gastric bypass: 10 yrs after gastric bypass you will probably maintain most of your weight loss but may regain some of the weight back due "fallin off the wagon" , so to say. Meaning you liberalize your eating habits cause now food is going down easier.

Clean is good: If you mean a 10 day meal replacement with a balanced low sugar shake like medifast or glucose-controlled boost (plus all vitamins) it should be ok. However, the best diet to work with a bypass is a solid meal (protein and veggies) with no sipping, fewer slider foods, no sweets and no bad snacks. Might be good to check with your surgeon and program.

i've seen my bypass surgin on this issue for years. i was 330lbs had gastric bypass 2010 i weigh now 122lbs no one can tell me what my pain is . help!

Bypass pain: If your bariatric surgeon cannot help you, see a gastroenterologist for a second opinion.  An internal hernia may show up on a ct scan.  Sometimes there is a stricture or marginal ulcer.
