Bloody nose: Certainly the cold and nasal dryness can cause nasal bleeding. If the bleeding is severe and can't be stopped you should be seen right away.  Otherwise nasal saline sprays are helpful in added moisture to your nose.

i hit something and my nose is bleeding since 4 hours, nothing helped to stop the bleeding..and i'm feeling so cold i don't know why, what should i do?

Emergent care: You need emergent care for a 4 hour nose bleed that is not stopping.  You can get seriously anemic which may be what you are already experiencing.   Get emergent care asap!  best wishes.

:  Nose bleeds can occur in all seasons and most are self limiting when pressure is applied. If it does not stop see an ENT doc or go to the ER. Hope you do well

Explanation : Nasal bleeding can be associated with  any respiratory infection and this symptoms can recurring with any minor "cold" , because vessels at nasal septum  became fragile and sensitive even to dry condition.

I wouldn't: @10mo his nose is more cartilage than bone. A visit to an Er where there are gunshot wounds/heart attacks &amp; too many diseases to mention would  not be wise or needed. Let his doc see him in the next day or 2 .

Moisturization: A dry irritated nasal lining can be painful, result in stuffiness and bleed. This is generally more common during the dry winter months, assuming you live in an area where it gets cold and dry. You can use vaseline in small amounts, ayr saline gel or ponaris nasal emollient (you may have trouble finding it but ask your pharmacist)all intranasally. If no better, see an ENT doctor.

Dry air: Hopefully the recent rains will help. You may wish to apply a small amount of an emollient, like Vaseline, to the inside of the  nostril that bleeds. It will help in keeping the lining moist and still let you breathe through that side of the nose. Do not over do the amount of emollient you apply. If it does not help you may wish to see and ENT and consider cauterization of the offending area.

when sick (cold/flu) or stuffy, is it normal to have some chunky bits with blood when you blow your nose? as long as it doesn't keep bleeding (no nosebleed), is there no bleeding issue (ie. too thin)?

Cold. bloody pieces: When you have a cold the nasal mucosa gets inflammed,  friable and increases discharge (also ironically dries out ), so some blood is not uncommon. Try vasoline  inside tip of nose AM,  PM to mositurize, Vit C ( orange juice 3-4 glasses a day  decreasing to  1 glass a day over a week will help . Zyrtec mayhep,  less blowing. Fish oil is a anti-coagulant. f/u with doc
