Need to be seen: Black stool (color of that of tar) might indicate upper gut bleeding (though it happens if you are having Iron supplement). This, combined with acid reflux might indicate an ulcer or some stomach problem that needs to be checked out

Acid reflux: You most likely have a problem with acid reflux. It is often a long-term problem. I would recommend that you avoid any particular foods which give you problems, particularly tomatoes,onions, chocolate, and citrus fruits. Tobacco and alcohol also contribute. Continue your famotidine. Patients often need medications like this long term.speak with your doctor about your medications. Good luck.

They can - depends: Every person is different, and every stomach reacts to different foods by producing a different amount of acid (for a different period of time). Thus, while citrus and chocolate have been reported to cause worse acid reflux in some people, so have tomatoes, spicy foods, peppers, vegetables, and even antacids! The only way to know for u is to change your diet and see if the symptoms get worse.

No, but...: It's better than not losing any weight.  However, in the grand scheme of things, 4 pounds won't change any symptoms.  But, it's a good start.  One can continue eating "less than needed to live on", and her excessive weight will continue to decrease.  It's plain physics:  if she takes in fewer calories than her body requires, then her body will start burning stored fat to use for calories.

Hmmm...: It's a sign of something more than acid reflux, if a person eats ice cream and then FOUR bags of white chocolate. It's a sign to visit one's primary care doctor to evaluate why one would eat ice cream and then FOUR bags of chocolate. There are likely other health issues here, that one would want to discuss with one's doctor... to resolve current problems and prevent future ones.

Reflux more likely: You appear to have both acid and bile reflux which can really irritate and inflame your throat   see GI doc.
