: You have not described any symptom beyond color change and itching. They are bothersome but do not suggest a life-threatening reaction. Other than offer a different antihistamine, I am not sure what a doc would do. Go if you wish.

Zyrtec (cetirizine) Antihistamine: Yes. It works without the sedation side effects that Benadryl (diphenhydramine) has.

bee  sting allergy: Antihistamines may not be enough but have them anyway as well as zantac 2 tabs .  Is there no epi pen in the whole country?  Discuss with an allergist as soon as possible ( this week) and  ask if they could prepare a syringe  with some epi  in it  for you to carry ( you can get auto-injectors on line to help inject it)  Please do not delay

Allergy to bee sting: You need to use epipen (epinephrine) &amp; you  must carry them with you all the time. Speak with your  Doctor. Good luck

Yes: Benedryl is a bit sedating to some but it is well tolerated by most 5yo in that setting. Dosing is up to  1 tsp (5cc) per 25 lb up to every 6 hrs.  You can control the discomfort or swelling more naturally by using cold compresses. Wet a face cloth & place it in a ziploc bag & chill in the freezer. Or crush a few ice cubes into the same face cloth , ziploc it & you have easy compress for use.

Yes: If you feel you still need it, but don't exceed recommended daily dose for diphenhydramine from all sources (300 mg /day), depends on the reaction too was it a local or whole body reaction? keep taking the benadryl for the next 24 -48 hours every 4-6 hours as needed 25- 50 mg , don't drive, and take the medicines prescribed at ER, if it was a  whole body reaction, see an allergist, take care

Insect sting: If your son develops any breathing problems, abdominal pain, nausea or vomiting, bring him to the closest er since it can be life threatening. Otherwise, large local reaction to insect or bee sting can be managed in the clinic. When the swelling is that severe and does not respond to home remedies, you should bring him to see a local physician. He might need a burst dose of oral steroid.

: It is quite unusual if the current finger's symptoms are related to the bee sting one week ago. Per my knowledge, there is no such delayed allergic reaction. You can apply local ice pack for swelling and itching in the next 24 hours. If symptoms get worse, you can see your doctor.

Sometimes, bee stings can result in anaphlyaxis, which manifests as shortness of breath or wheezing shortly after the sting.  See a healthcare provider if any your sons symptoms increase in intensity.

Many ways: Mild reactions don't need to be treated. Increasing redness over a few days suggests an infection of the skin that requires treatment with antibiotics. Allergic reactions such as hives, wheezing or shock should be evaluated. Carrying an Epinephrine autoinjector keeps people alive until they get to the er, but the only real treatment for bee sting allergies is immunotherapy from an allergist.
