understanding only clear liquids can be had prior to a colonoscopy, does beer count?  specifically a bud light?

Accepted Answer

Beer is clear: Prior to colonoscopy it is best to keep the bowel relatively empty not to interfere with visualization of colon mucosa and any potential growths.  Clear liquid for the most part is liquid without residue, that is virtually transparent to light.  Obviously milk does not fit into profile, nor fruit juices for the  most part.  Beer is transparent and doesn't cause problems with residue.

i drank two beers two hours ago, i had a coughing fit and tool 15ish ml of liquid dayquil. am i i danger of an overdose?

No: but would strongly advise you not repeat the "experiment"

will i pass an etg test in 72 hours?  i know the "research" says 80, i am 23 female 5'6 135 lbs moderate metabolism.  4 beers should be clear, right?

Cant say for sure: 80 hrs is a maximal estimate based on highest usages.  More moderate usages are negative well before then

i'm also a tb patient and reaching the end of my treatment. my culture came out clear after the 2nd month but still taking meds. i consumed 1 pint of beer on saturday & the pain initiated on monday morning. i'm really not sure what triggered it.

Possible GER/PCP: I would suggest a follow up visit to ensure that the treatment was successful. The pain may be associated with pleuritic inflammation or infection. Please see your PCP.

Don't: St. John's Wort is an OTC.  As such one does not know the quantity of quality  of the active ingredient.  Generally speaking one should not drink when taking antidepressants.  The safest course is to not use any mood altering chemicals while taking any form of antidepressant, either prescribed or OTC.

whenever i drink alcoholic beverages, mostly beer, my throat gets tight and i have a hard time swallowing saliva. i will usually clear my throat or take a deep breath and i am fine, but its super scary and feels like im going to choke?

DON'T drink ETOH.: You may have an allergy to sulfites in some alcoholic beverages. If that is the case, you need to know it could become worse with subsequent exposures  and could become life threatening.

Accepted Answer

No: I assume you are referring to instructions telling you to drink only clear liquids? In that case, vodka, gin, rum and tequila do not fir the bill. Clear liquids, in the context of medical instructions, do not refer to alcoholic beverages, rather, the term refers mostly to water and maybe tea, not milk and especially not vodka.

: If you are drinking the fluid mix, it is a liquid, eating a gel makes it a semi-solid. Whether or not your doc considers this a problem is up to them.

is chicken noodle soup considered a clear liquid?

Accepted Answer

Sort of: The broth is fine, avoid the goodies in the soup (noodles, carrots, chicken). Save those until afterwards. Chicken noodle soup is a great post-colonoscopy food!
