Chest pain: That type of chest pain can emanate from the rib cage from inflammation or pinched intercostal nerve, from inflammation of the lung lining(pleurisy) or from pathology in the lung itself. Cough would be associated with lung causes. If there is a tender area it would point toward rib inflammation or injury. If symptoms persist, see an MD for examination and probable xray studies.
