Absolutely!: Many people with deviated septums have normal noses on the outside. This can be something someone is born with or trauma.

Yes: If the septum is touching the turbinates or the lateral nasal wall (the outer part of the nasal cavity), it can make it difficult to blow.

Trying nasal saline irrigation can help, but should see an ENT doctor to further evaluate.

Try bromelain: For a young person, bromelain can be a good choice. It is derived from pineapple and is very safe to take.  You can normally find it in a health food store such as GNC.

Possibly: While the septum is the structure inside the nose that divides the nostrils, it may also contribute to the external shape of the nose. A severely twisted septum, especially near the tip of the nose, can lead to a twisted nose. Improving the septal deviation may improve the straightness of the nose. However, fixing the septum will not improve a hump along the bridge of the nose.

Nasal spray: Some OTC nose sprays can help temporarily open the passage on the more narrow side of your nose. Saline is weaker but safer. Try it first. The strongest sprays list as sinus sprays on the label. BreatheRight strips can open the nostril some , too.

See E N T doctor: It could be nasal polyps ---  as soon as possible you should see an ear nose and throat doctor - or should go to emergency room of a hospital ---  a good examination and treatment is required.

Post nasal drip: No it doesn't.   Consider use of neti pot for the mucus. Mix ¼ tsp salt w 1 cup lukewarm water. More salt can also be used. Place solution in neti pot.  Tilt head & pour solution into 1 nostril. Blow nose lightly & spit out any liquid that drains into throat. Repeat on other side. This can be done in the evening before you go to bed & again in the morning.  Take care.

i have a deviated septum, and want to get my nose restructured, will my insurance cover this? would this be considered cosmetic or an actual health issue

Typically, : Typically, insurance will cover treatment for deviated septum in a patient with symptoms from the deviation, most commonly airway obstruction. The coverage will probably cover only the part of surgery appropriate to resolution of the symptoms. I am not sure what is meant by getting your "nose restructured, " but any part of the procedure done for aesthetic reasons will not likely by paid for by the insurer.
