my dentist diagnosed  me with having hyper sensitive taste buds my tongue has been very painful and irritated for  months now. im waitng for a referal  but they've been slow dragging. do you have any advice or suggestions correcting my issue? they mention

Could be: Could be a Thrush, reaction to antibiotics, allergic, systemic, bacterial infection, etc.  Please see your Dentist and your PCP.

my tongue feels like i burnt it and i know i didn't burn it. it started out itchy all in my mouth tongue and cheeks. my taste buds raised, red and irritated. what could this be?

"Burning Mouth": This sounds like the "burning mouth syndrome "which is a poorly understood problem. Typically it occurs women over the age of 40 and is felt to possibly be under hormonal control. It's also possible that it could be secondary to a virus. Extremely annoying I have found that relief can occur with a low acid diet and rinsing your mouth with mylanta liquid after each meal and before bed.

Examination, go now!: You are a year overdue in seeking evaluation and treatment.  Any pain/bleeding/swelling that lasts more than 2 weeks is a red flag.  Please see your Dentist or, preferably, an Oral Surgeon, for immediate examination.  Do not put this off.

Ans: Well what have you done?  Did you eat hot or spivey foods or scrape the tongue on something you put into your mouth. This area is very vascular and will resolve fast but stop irritating the tongue. Be careful what you put into your mouth

Probably Vitamin B : Take some vitamin b complex , in particular Folic Acid and niacin. Wait about 3 to 7 days .If symptoms resolve , it was a vitamin deficiency.If they don't resolve the rinse with benedryl for 3 min 3 x's a day. If still no resolution go and seek a dentist highly trained in oral medicine.

Burned tongue: They get burned as well. This may temporarily affect taste depending upon what part of the tongue was burned. You will heal and the taste should return to normal.

See dentist: Taste buds are only located on the extreme back and side of the tongue, not on the tip.  See your dentist to get the tip of your tongue checked.

Staining?: Coffee drinker? Smoker? Dipping? Staining of the tongue can be caused by these items. Your post did not elaborate.
