Thyroid hormone: Hi. Hyperthyroidism is too much thyroid hormones (T4 &amp; T3). Hypothyroidism is too little thyroid hormones. Thyroid hormone stimulates metabolism and affects many organ systems. Many of the symptoms of hyper and hypo are opposite: temperature sensation, change in weight, heart rate, period flow, bowel function, and so on. Easy to test for. Good luck!

There are other, less common forms of hyperthyroidism, some of which can be subtle.  Best to have this evaluated by an endocrinologist or an internist who is familiar with this.

The only way to know for sure is to get a blood test.
