How concerning is hyperthyroidism?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Different types: Hi. There are different types of hyperthyroidism. Some get better on their own. Most last indefinitely and need treatment; of those, most are caused by immune system stimulation of the gland (bypassing pituitary control), and some are due to autonomous overactive thyroid nodules. The condition needs to be treated, but most people your age do fine with it. See an endocrinologist.
