Doesn't mean much: Independent of a concomitant glucose an Insulin level doesn't mean much. If blood sugar is high, low, or normal with an Insulin level of 8 uu/ml, the interpretation is completely different.

It should not: When your pancreas and liver are functioning properly, fasting should not cause hypoglycemia.  If fasting causes hypoglycemia in you, you should be seen by your endocrinologist for further evaluation. Frequently we find there wasn't true hypoglycemia and something else was happening.

Yes: A fasting glucose of 6.0 is in the "impaired glucose tolerance" range, 7.8 is in the diabetes range.  Trying to raise your blood sugar above normal will not help your symptoms of hypoglycemia, and may potentially make it worse, as you will be prone to more reactive hypoglycemia.  You need to avoid high carb foods that raise your sugar excessively.

Hgb A1C: Not likely glucose is 7, or you wouldn't be here with us.Hgb a1c should be 4.5-6 normally.

No: In my 35 years of practice, I have never seen a case of reactive hypoglycemia.  The disorder doesn't exist, if you're overweight the symptoms are a natural response to your glucose level returning to normal. Don't waste your money on a  GTT or any fad diets of treatments. Lose wt if heavy. Remember, glucose meters are not very accurate in the low normal to hypoglycemic ranges.

Not normal: You should seek a second opinion. Hypoglycemia is a disorder and must be fully investigate as it can be dangerous especially if you drive or operate machinery.

Medication is not: the answer: 6-8 small meals/day is the way to go.Cross training will also help stimulate glucagon secretion.

i'm diabetic. today my fasting glucose level was 74, but i didn't have hypoglycemia symptoms, so is it considered hypo or normal? & if it was hypo why i didn't feel the hypo symptoms?

: Many will not have symptoms of hypoglycemia until the level drops down below 60 or 50. When managing your diabetes we try to keep the level away from any extremes, but I consider 70-100 my "normal" target.
