i have 3 swollen lymph nodes in my left groin for 5 days as well as strain in hip/ groin from 6 mile walk 3 days ago. also have 3 insect bites on same leg within last week.

Common: Those lymph nodes screen out the serum contributed by events from that leg or nearby skin. Bug bites could easily increase their size from resting to enlarged. The cycle lasts about 3-4 wks before they shrink back. If they develop nearby redness or continue to swell they may have true infection &amp; need treatment. The strain would have nothing to do with it.

bitten by some sort of insect on my arm. it stung badly and was extremely itchy, red, and swollen but went away in a few min. a week later developed a dark scaly rash, dryness, and red spots with swollen lymph nodes on the armpit. what do i do?

: You need to go to the ER for treatment. We can’t know your diagnosis without seeing the kind of insect that bit you. However,big lymph nodes mean that there’s either an infection or a reaction to the inflammation that it caused. It could be Lyme’s,Rocky Mnth.Spotted fever,etc. or a local infection like Staph or Strep.etc.You might have an insect part that needs to be removed.

Not per se: A tick bite by itself is not likely to cause lymph node enlargment, but infection transmitted through tick bite, e.g., lyme disease may cause swelling of lymph nodes.

Monitoring Centers: Lymphatic system absorbs/carries things too big to go into the arteries/veins like bacteria eaten by white cells and digested food. Lymph nodes "taste" the lymph for anything bad  like bacteria/viruses/cancers, etc. When it detects a problem, it alerts the immune system and your body reacts.  They enlarge in response to the inflammation they create when they react.  They shrink when all is well.

Swollen lymph nodes!: You should carefully monitor those lymph nodes. If they increase in number or size or pain or anything else then go to your doc and have him send you to a surgeon for a biopsy right away. If they go away on their own, great!

More specifics: Do you mean the swollen nodes at the left side  of the neck and  not the whole body?  If so, it may mean that there is a sinus infection or dental abscess. I can't think of a condition which causes nodes to be enlarged involving much of the left side of the body. Perhaps you need a second opinion by seeing another doctor
