Not necessarily: It usually takes a very significant blow to break the mandible (jaw bone).  Tenderness on that bone when you push on it does not prove you broke it.  Signs of a broken mandible include a "mis-fitting" of the teeth after the trauma which causes the fracture.

Bony cysts: Bony cysts in children can go away on their own. However, they should be monitored because the lower jaw may be weakened.

Need brief time: Any time enlarged lymph nodes in the neck  is a concern at any age , till the cause is established , more often it is  is due to infection in pro-pharygeal cavity less often is due to head & neck cancers, and lymphomas , let your doctor check you

You can't miss it: A fractured jaw is incompatible with normal eating and must be treated...an X RAY is absolutely necessary if you suspect this problem.....Hard to miss!!!!!

This could be an: Enlarged lymph node (a cyst is also a possibility) - if not resolving within several weeks or if it becomes red, hot, more enlarged or tender - seek medical attention.

TMJ vs Salivary: This could be a couple of things, and you will most likely need to see a physician for relief. It could be an aggravation of TMJ syndrome, which would explain the difficulty opening and some swelling. Tmj is the joint you chew with. You could also have problem with a salivary gland, possibly even stone in the duct or an infection in the gland. Either way, you probably should make an appointment.

is it easy for a ent dr to see a throat or tonsil tumor? pcp says i have tmj cuz my ear hurts into tonsil area and along lower jaw bone. jaw clicks.

YES: The jaw is an AMAZING bone...it will "accomodate" to a wide # injuries HOWEVER sound to me like you are referring to TM JOINT pathology! THAT needs to be treated by a trained oral health professional!!

been taking forteo for 16 dos. have a bone spur growing into my sinus, now mid shin and rt. jaw pain. i want to stop these injections. ideas?

TMD?&amp; leg pain.: Statistically, jaw pain is a bite problem if near the ear or  teeth if lower or midline. See dentist. Eli Lilly says " FORTEO is Rx [for] osteoporosis [patients] at high risk for. . . fractures. . . " If you'd like to quit it, get a DEXA scan for bone density. Shin pain with your hx should be neuritic from the back. Try an epidural. Spur in a sinus-a cavity-shd be benign. No take oral cortisone.
