Not FDA approved: Easy to inject, hard to remove. A patient from europe had aquamid injected into both cheeks. She developed a foreign body reaction which required an incision and drainage get the material to come out.  The hole did not close for several months and required packing. Permanent fillers are appealing because of how long it lasts, but if there is a problem, the permanent filler is not easily removed.

While : While most dermal fillers are temporary, there is one fda approved dermal filler, artefill, that is potentially permanenet. Generally speaking however, expression lines on the forehead and the crow's feet area are best treated with neurotoxin injections Botox Â® or Dysport Â®. These are effective and extremely safe procedures when done appropriately. In select cases, very superficial fillers like restylaneÂ® or juvedermÂ® can soften deeper lines in these areas, but only as a secondary procedure. Typically, these fillers are temporary, and last about 6-9 months.

Elevess : Elevess is an ha (hyaluronic acid) filler like restylane, juvederm and perlane. These work best in the lower face, where we want to preserve animation, like smiling. The lines running from the sides of the nose down to the mouth are the most common area treated with fillers. The benefit of fillers is almost instant satisfaction.

Botox, is a neuromodulator, like Dysport and xeomin, (incobotulinumtoxin a) it works by reducing muscle motion. These are most frequently used in the upper face, and the area between the eyebrows is the most common area treated with neuromodulators. By reducing your ability to frown, the skin stops folding and the lines gradually reduce. Sometimes, when the frown lines are very deep, a combination of the two gives the best results.
