i'm just wondering, if you get cut open, but are impervious to infection or disease, could you still live?

Accepted Answer

Complicated question: Simply opening up the skin allows harmful things access to the sensitive deeper stuff.  Even with no infections or diseases, the mere exposure to air would dry things out and cause them not to function or function poorly due to dryness.  Plus, the deeper tissues would bulge out or hang out further compromising their blood supply and function.  Keeping things inside, safe and warm is a better idea.

Depends: If you are being treated with steroids or other medications to moderate you immune response then you will be more susceptible to infections.

Accepted Answer

No: Very minimal amounts of Cyclosporine actually cross the placenta. Your baby should not be at any increased risk of infection. There have been reports of an increased risk of preterm delivery and smaller babies. Some of that may be related to whatever condition the woman was on Cyclosporine for.

Kidney Infection: Not necessarily. Most kidney infections, such as a urinary tract infection or an infection in the kidney itself (pyelonephritis) can be treated safely and quickly. In certain situations based on the degree of infection or the underlying health of the patient this can impact kidney function.

i got a razor cut on my elbow,it bled for a while and then i cleaned it with water and soap. the razor was brand new and no body else has used it. i cleaned the wound with payodine. is there any risk for serious infection? or disease? what to do?

: No risk for serious infections in above circumstances. You did the right things. Given location, superficial infections and taking longer time to heal are to be expected, keep it covered and avoid pressure/ friction.

Not a good question.: An infection is a type of disease.   The question therefore does not really make any sense.  Most infections of the kidney come and go and need turn into anything else.

: What you described is highly unlikely to result in infection. If you develop a sore on your vulva or have any other local symptoms, it would be prudent to see your doctor.

No: Hepatitis b can be associated with a vasculitis (inflammatory disorder of the blood vessels) called polyarteritis nodosa (pan).  It is a secondary event that is related circulating antigen-antibody complexes may be deposited in the blood vessels rather than a true autoimmune disorder.

Little or no risk: This has had more attention in the media and health educationthan it deserves. Could razor sharing transmit serious infections? Probably yes. But with sufficient frequency to be worrisome? Almost certainly not. If the other person is carrying skin bacteria like staph or strep, that's the main risk. Few if any blood borne infections (HIV, viral hepatitis) from razor sharing have ever been known.

COVID 19:  Small droplets can be relesed when someone coughs, sneezes, sings or breaths. That can reach to another person and enter their body via eyes, nose or mouth and then lead to a respiratory infection. Or the germs may be on someones hands who then touches their eyes, nose or mouth.
