You : You can start by keeping the area clean with soap and water and applying antibiotic ointment to the bite.  You can also try warm compresses to draw out the infection - 20 minutes (or as long as she lets you) 2-3 times a day.  A warm bath works also.  If the area has spreading redness, is worsening instead of improving or if your child develops fevers and chills, these are reasons to contact her doctor since she might need antibiotics to fight the infection.

You can: If you're in the Waikato area between 6-11pm weeknights you can have a consultation with an after-hours doctor on this forum.  Otherwise you will need to consult a doctor in person which I suggest you do urgently  if you have pain or fevers

Relax: With severe itch you may rub so vigorously as to cause a yellow, sticky discharge. When the itch stops you can stop scratching and they will heal. Water is good for this. Wash. Hydrocortisone cream, rubbing with ice may help. Rub with a wet aspirin [not coated] can help. If you have bacitracin, neosporin, or triple antibiotic, THROW IT AWAY.

NOT NECESSARILY: This depends upon what symptoms and signs you had which suggested that you were infected as a result of mosquito bites.  This combination of medications suggests that he was using a "shotgun" approach rather than a careful evaluation of the issues.  Suggest you see a doctor here.

Not the best one: That particular antibiotic would not be my first choice for this condition.  You would be better off seeing a doctor or dermatologist to get it looked at first.

Boil: No! you do not 'pop' blister. The skin of the blister is natural protection against bacteria. Continue antibiotics and see your doctor. If the wound needs to be drained, md will do it under sterile conditions.

Better options: A better choice would be to hold and ice cube to help with pain or itch...And apply an antibiotic ointment like polysporin (bacitracin and polymyxin) and / or Hydrocortisone for the itch.

Call your doctor: A mosquito bite (or any skin lesion) that appears infected needs to be examined. If your doctor agrees it is infected, they will prescribe the appropriate treatment.

Often this can be a: superinfection so i would get in to see your doctor or dermatologist for culture and treatment

Improving to me: It sounds like the lesion is consolidating.  If infected it would've probably swelled, remained red, even developed pus and felt warm to the touch.  You're on the mend kid...Enjoy the summer....
