Depends on situation: If you had the viruses before that cause the disorder you will be immune. If you are susceptible but are cautious & have no contact with the saliva of the person you are at low risk. It occurs most often in kids under 5 but we see occasional strains affect adults. I would not consider it much of a threat to any adult who is not immune compromised by chronic illness or chemo.

Supportive care..: There are no medicines that will shorten the duration of this disease (caused by a virus). Make sure that she does not get dehydrated during this time. Pain relief with Ibuprofen can help. I hope she feels better soon.

Observe: Hand foot mouth lesions sometimes look infected. If they are infected they are painful and gradually spreading. Observe the spot for more redness and pain and if they keep increasing, or streaks of redness from the spot develop, have the child seen.

Observe : since you have had your child examined and they did not find any cause for alarm it would be worthwhile observing him for another day. If the Finger becomes more red, swollen and  painful with more red streaks then have him taken to the doctor again so that local antibiotics or oral antibiotics are started. If the child is already having fever or appears ill you should take him now.

Need to examine: It is not feasible to provide a meaningful opinion without additional history, physical examination and may be some tests. Is it your toes or the toe nails. You may have fungal infection. Give over the counter fungal cream a try. You may ask the pharmacist for assistance in picking one. If that does not work, it would be prudent to see a podiatrist.

No: Not well. It's too broad spectrum, it's not a good antibiotic for that. Cuticles improve on their own. Warm compresses and epsom salt soaks are sufficient.

Possibilities: Possibly from micro trauma such as shoe pressure: especially if you are active. Can also be fungus.. How long have you noticed this. If it just appeared suddenly, more likely to be from low grade trauma. If this is not the case, or if this fails to grow out as time goes on, see podiatrist.

Any color to it: Does it have any color to it? Is it black or is it just indented? It may be what is know of onycholysis, which is splitting of the nail. Could be caused by repeated trauma to the area. If you are worried have a podiatrist check it out as a simple biopsy may reveal what you have.

See Podiatrist: A professional should examine it and assess situation. Any remaining infection will be treated and measures can be taken to prevent recurrence. If this is first time ingrown nail occurred, probably  will grow back normal in time with proper care.
