Antibiotics: This bump can be an abscess in any event it should be examined possibly drained and antibiotics begun. Until then warm soaks but get to a doctor asap

Help for bump: using a warm compress for 15-20 min several times a day might help it come to a head.  You can take an anti inflammatory such as Motrin OTC as well which may help alleviate some of the pain/swelling.  If it gets worse,  see a doctor since you may need antibiotic or for it to be drained.  Good luck!

squeezed small bump on neck. awful smelling stuff comes out. keeps coming back. it is not a boil. its under skin no head. is it infected pore.

Sebaceous cyst: This is a typical sebaceous cyst. It&#x27;s probably not infected now, and is harmless unless and until that happens. But it can be a pretty big deal if infection occurs. It can be treated with minor surgery to prevent recurrent accumulation, drainage, and infection -- probably by a dermatologist. Contact your doctor about a referral.

Possible Scabies: Itchy bumps in a young child could be bug bites, such as fleas, bedbugs, or scabies. In addition, a skin virus such as molluscum should be considered.  This child should be seen by a dermatologist for proper diagnosis.

se asian female 30+ had cortisone injection into a cystic acne under skin on face 3 days ago.bump is raised more than before but doesn't look red hot or infected.i thought cortisone normaly shrinks the cyst?  is this normal,or is more
time needed?

: It will look bigger initially because the cortisone is fluid-so, fluid got injected and this will raise the lesion initially. Once the cortisone gets absorbed by the body, hopefully it will decrease the acne. Follow up with your doctor right away if it begins to look infected-red, warm to touch, pus coming out, etc. Best of luck to you!

Infected/inflammed: Red, hot, swollen and drainage (inflammation) are normal signs of healing and in fact, not bad but are integral to healing.  If infected, the wound should not improve, the patient have fevers, chills, and other systemic signs of infection.  Culture of the wound should never be with a swab on the surface but a simple tissue biopsy.  Routine use of antibiotics is to be condemned due to the risks.
