If it bothers him: Adhesions can be minimal &amp; of negligible importance or they can be quite irritating. As a rule I wait until an infant is over a year of age to see if they spontaneously release. At any point thereafter a referral to a urologist is made.

Still debatable: Circumcision was associated with frequent orgasm difficulties in danish men (circum. Rare freq) & with a range of frequent sexual difficulties in women, notably orgasm difficulties, dyspareunia and a sense of incomplete sexual needs fulfilment. Thorough examination of these matters in areas where male circumcision is more common like the U.S. Would probably show an opposite result-no difficulties.

There is some data suggesting less risk of std's.

U need to research: Too big a topic for this space.  Read the pros and cons from the aap (pediatrics), aafp (family medicine), aua (urology), nocirc web site.  There are arguments for and against.  Mostly cultural, then religeous, then cosmetic, then preventative, then personal preference.  Remember the baby boy doesn't have a vote unless you leave him alone untill he is old enough to make the decision for himself.

Personal preference: A few cite easier hygiene, decreased std's over a lifetime, elimination of foreskin cancer, etc. The main factor seems to be personal preference. Daddy wants his boy to look the same. I see occasional uti's primarily in uncircumcised boys, but that is uncommon. Rates vary throughout the world. While in the military it was the most requested elective surgery among shipboard sailors.

Local + sweet: The insertion of a small amount of Lidocaine along the 2 nerves on the back of the shaft numbs the area where work will be done & a bit of sugar solution in the mouth as a distraction also helps along with a comforting staff that helps sooth the infant during the procedure. Many seem to fuss more while being placed in the restraint board than they do for the rest of the procedure.
