Otoplasty is safe: The risks of an otoplasty include standard surgical risks such as visible scar, infection, need for revision. Hematoma, or a collection of blood under the incision, can also occur. This creates additional risk for infection, soft tissue loss or a poor looking result. Asymmetry is also a risk. With that said, otoplasty is a safe procedure and patient satisfaction in experienced hands is very high.
