Not unusual: Irregular bleeding the first few months is not uncommon. It should get better with time.

A person can't tell: Wait. A positive pregnancy test can tell a woman that prior spotting was actually implantation spotting. It can be hard to tell if a woman is pregnant because some of the symptoms seen in early pregnancy can also happen in non-pregnant women. A urine pregnancy test gives a reliable result about 3 weeks after sex (3 weeks after when conception might have occurred), or 1 week after missing a period.

once a fertilised egg has started to implant, how long does it take for implantation to complete?

Several days: It is actually a process where the fertilized egg, by now a multicellular structure called the blastocyst, attaches to the lining of the uterus. As the structure grows and a placenta starts to form, some of these cells invade into the lining looking for blood vessels. As the placenta continues to grow and attach, bleeding may occur. This can happen for a couple of weeks.

Depends: Depends on  the type of  implant.  If you mean implanon,  yes.  Like  most hormonal contraception it is 99% effective. There are always a small percent of  women  who will still conceive.  Some pregnancies may  be abnormal  like  an ectopic or tubal pregnancy for instance. See your md  if there is  a  concern  that you may  be pregnant.

It won't: If implanted properly, it will not break with normal or even intense activity.  It would have to be subjected to a very unusual or deliberate sort of stress in order to break.  It is designed to be somewhat flexible under pressure, so a little bending is ok, but it shouldn't curl up or stay deformed.

Probably normal?: Progesterone inserts are know to have no periods, many perioods or anything in between, period!  if you have concern, you will need to see your pcp/gyn and get examined.  Pregnancy is always a concern (but not a major one here).  There may be other causes.  If in doubt, check it out!

Not likely: Implanon is one of the most effective methods of contraception. If you think you are pregnant there is an easy solution. Check a home pregnancy test and in minutes you will have your answer. There is no other way to find out.

HCG beta sub unit: is only found when a fertilized egg is implanted in the uterus or fallopian tubes. It can also be found n ectopic pregnancies
