Implanon : Irregular bleeding is an almost universal side effect of implanon. There is no normal time for your period on this birth control  method. Irregular bleeding can be annoying but it does not mean that the method is not working. This side effect is very typical of Progesterone only birth control methods. Schedule an exam to make sure no infections are causing bleeding.

Irreg bldg common: Irregular bleeding is common on implanon--it's a trade-off for very effective, easy, safe birth control.  If it's bothering you to the point you're thinking of having it removed, ask your dr about possible treatments (sometimes other hormones added).  Other possible treatments include Ibuprofen (2-3 tablets 4x/day may be helpful--take with food).

Maybe: The main side-effect of implanon is irregular bleeding and this could be nothing more than that but if you are bleeding so heavily now you need to be seen ASAP to be sure that you are not getting severely anemic and to be certain there is nothing else going on. Take care.

Options possible: Short of removing the implanon, there is no cure.  See your gynecologist about taking hormones to suppress the bleeding.
