Impetigo: Impetigo is a bacterial infection caused by group a strep or staph and requires treatment either topically or orally if more severe.  They are typically pustules and can have yellow crusting on the lesions.  Rashes are very difficult to diagnose without looking at it. Bacterial culture: usually, impetigo is caused by either staph or strept bacterial infection. You did not mention which antibiotic you are using. I suggest finishing your current Rx ( 10 days) and ask your PCP for antibiotic skin ointment.

Mupirocin: Impetigo is a common skin infection that results in soft, friable pustules. It is commonly seen in children, but can be seen in adults.

Impetigo can be treated with oral (pills) or topical antibiotics. Any physician will be able to prescribe treatment for this condition.

Bactroban (mupirocin) ointment is a prescription that is highly effective at treating this even if the staph aureus involved is mrsa. If you have recurrent lesions, treating the inner nostrils with the ointment for 1 week each month may prevent outbreaks.
